 | | The maerzgalerie presents in »maerzlab« the young Dresden based artist Kai Hügel. »maerzlab« refers to an ingenuous and experimental area showing new tendencies within the gallery. Kai Hügel usually develops his works on the basis of found objects which he combines and complements corresponding to colourfulness and material - scrap wood, scrapped and cut skateboards guide the look to material and surface. Tranquility and commotion play a just as large role as character and form. The compositions find its expression partly in figurative partly in abstract objects. On the one hand, the obvious discrepancy of the two object types is dissolved by its material and on the other hand by its narrative background.
Kai Hügel was granted the Robert-Sterl-Preis for outstanding artistic performance of postgraduate students of the HfBK (Academy of Visual Arts) Dresden.
opening reception on Friday, November 23, starting at 6pm. |
